The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office recently received several request to review the posted speed in the school speed zone on Log Cabin Road. These requests specifically pertain to the reduced speed times in the morning from 7:30-8:30 am and in the afternoon from 2:30-3:30 pm. We have compared the reduced speeds during these times to other reduced speed times in our area. We have made the decision to request that REDSPEED change the enforcement speed during both times from 25 mph to 35 mph. Effective today, January 13, 2026, that request was granted. This morning the Baldwin County Road Department installed signs reflecting the change. The safety of all of our citizens is and remains our priority. Log Cabin Road is a high traffic volume area connecting Jefferson Street to the 441 N corridor. We have had several incidents in which deputies directing school traffic were nearly hit by motorists. We are also conscious of the congestion ofter caused in the area. We felt this change would more align the Log Cabin school zone with the other school zones in our area. We will continue to monitor the school zone and keep the public informed if we feel other changes are needed . ... See MoreSee Less
