Georgia House Bill 1105, signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp on May 1, 2024, mandates increased cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. Known as the Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024, the law requires local agencies to verify the immigration status of individuals in custody, notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) upon arrest, and honor ICE detainer requests for up to 48 hours.
